Things I don’t get about the IPAD?
Why would Apple design such a product without Flash capability, no serial ports for printers, etc? It also has no webcam or camera. Ridiculous.
And who wants to spread their fingers over the screen to resize software windows? It might look and sound cute, but this is silly. I wouldn’t want fingerprints and smears all over my computer screen.
Also, it has proprietary cables. Consumers don’t care about that proprietary nonsense. All it is for consumers is a big hassle. Sony is famous for this frustrating business practice as well.
The fact that is has no tactile feedback for the “keyboard” would be something I would not be able to handle either. Because of that it would be almost impossible to type on it without looking at the “keys”.
Also, what does it do that a laptop computer or Ipod/Iphone can’t do? At the price they are asking, considering it’s lack of functionality, it seems kind of steep. $199.00 would be a more reasonable price.
Lets list the facts:
No flash support (claims to be a full web browser- but with flash content in most sites)
No USB (can’t plug in mouse, keyboard, thumbdrives, external drives, projectors)
No multitask (have one app open and then minimize to open another app)
No real operating system (this is basically a big itouch)
No camera (you can get a 2.0 mp camera on a $50 phone now)
No user replacement battery (you will have to ship it out)
Apple is all about capitalism. With flash enabled, Apple will have no control, don’t believe the hype about security issues. Apple makes money with iTunes and this is how you will get your apps and media and how they will decide for you what you CAN have on you ipad.
It is NOT a laptop, netbook, UMPC or even a tablet pc. My HTC touch Pro 2 smartphone has features this pad doesn’t such as a camera, phone, flash support, multitask and the ability to connect a lcd projector or a HDTV to it. Netbooks, tablet pcs, and Ultra Mobile PC have all the capabilities of a real pc and cost less.
Will the ipad be successful? Of course it will. No doubt about it. Apple has a following. Some of its new fans aren’t the hardcore techies… they never heard of UMPCs or tablet pcs…so they don’t have a standard. They believe that Apple “invented” the concept. Like one Apple fan said after buying the iPhone in line…”if Apple sold groceries, i will shop there only….”
