A 64-bit OS (Operating System) is just an OS that allows your processor to deal with 64 threads at a time instead of the typical 32 threads. It would not really make any difference at all weather or not the computer comes with the 64-bit, because unless you are using more that 4 GB of RAM, then there is no real difference between 64-bit and 32-bit. And you might actually want to be careful about 64-bit OS, because seeing as you are unfamiliar with a 64-bit OS, some programs are incompatible with a 64-bit OS and must run in compatibility mode where the OS will only handle 32 threads but only for that program. It is a bit complicated, but it is probably not recommended for a novice.
