What is your opinion/experience with HP Laptops?
Thinking about getting one of these: http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/computer_can_series.do?storeName=computer_store&category=notebooks&a1=Category&v1=Ultra-Portable&series_name=dv4t_series&jumpid=in_R329_prodexp/hhoslp/psg/notebooks/Ultra-Portable/dv4t_series
Someone said that HP computers were cheaply made. But this is one of the most reasonably priced laptops that I’ve seen with it’s specifications.
What do you think?
Our experience with HP has been excellent service. We have an HP dv5000 series purchased in early 2006, so it’s been awhile since we’ve had to deal with HP. I can’t say how their service is these days, but they were rated among the very top in support. Okay.
Our laptop overheated twice in its first year. That was most likely OUR fault. The laptop’s ventillation is via fans on the bottom. We had a habit of placing the laptop, well, on our laps! Not much space for ventillation with bluejeans blocking the fan, right? Since then, we’ve learned, wisely, to place the laptop on a lapboard. No more problem.
When we bought the HP, it came with a 6-cell battery. We ordered the extra “extended” 12-cell battery, which I see is available for yours. I recommend it. The battery life (away from the plug) for a 12-cell is amazing. With both 6-cell and 12-cell charged up, you could go quite awhile, and when one runs out of charge, simply swap in the other. (Actually, through certain, shall I say, fortunate twists of fate, we have two 6-cells and two 12-cells, so we can go quite a bit longer than we ever need without a plug-in!)
Your laptop is just out, so not too much is known. It looks not spectacular, but just about average. Look it up by name. Type in “HP dv4t review” on any search bar.
