Is it normal for my laptop fan to occasionally make loud noises?

It’s a Toshiba Satellite, and when I’m on it every few minutes the fan (I’m assuming) will get pretty loud for about 5 or so minutes, then quiet down. It’s not extremely loud, or a griding noise or anything like that, but it does get significantly louder.
The last laptop I had (HP) overheated and fried, so I’m nervous that this could end up doing the same thing.

The extra noise from the fan is likely some dust on the blades throwing the blades out of balance, causing the noise. Perform some maintenance on your laptop to keep it running better and cooler.
