Shopping for Your First Netbook

When you’re in the market for a netbook computer, it’s advantageous to have a useful netbook comparison guide, or some process to figure out what to look for and how much to shell out for your netbook computer. The challenge is netbook computers are a fairly new technology, and there are a lot of manufacturers in the niche and also a lot of confusion among buyers. In order to buy the right netbook, however, you need to consider how you will use your new netbook, and how much money you are willing to spend. Given that, you can take a netbooks evaluation review, like this one, and get a good idea of what you will want to buy.

Most likely the first thing any netbook computers comparison evaluation should talk about is computing power. Without overcomplicating things, how precessing power is a factor of three main things-the CPU, the RAM, and the secondary storage of the computer. CPU means central processing unit. It’s the computer’s brain and thought process. The RAM is the memory where the computer writes data that it’s currently working on. The secondary storage, usually in the form of a hard drive, is where the computer stores programs, data, and other files that it’s not immediately using. This all affects computing power.

As far as this netbooks evaluation review, however, for the majority of netbooks, this is not going to make much difference.

Right now most netbook computers cost $250 to $400. These are the basic netbooks, and right now, virtually all of these use the same Intel Atom processor. So, selecting between the majority of netbook computers by processing power is not going to do much for you. Unless you’re shopping for a really high end netbook, like the Sony VAIO, one is about as powerful as the other. Most netbook computers are fast enough to do things like play games and move a lot of data across the Internet.

Well, for your general purpose netbook, an ASUS Eee PC, Acer Aspire, MSI Wind, or Samsung NC10, the significant differences can’t be in power. Using this, or any netbooks comparison, what you need to be focusing on is the other features of the netbook-the screen size and quality, the keyboard, wifi connectivity, etc. Whereas with desktops and laptops power is a factor that we can use to decide between machines, it’s not really that much of a big deal with netbook computers.

Our next step, then should be to discuss these secondary features of netbooks. For my own use, things like the quality of the screen and keyboard are more important, and they might be more important to you. I’m a writer, and I mainly use computers to write. Again, you’ll have to think about your own needs and decide what’s important to you. Then you can take the netbooks evaluation reviews you find and really use them to your advantage.
