What is your child’s back-to-school list? What grade are they and how much?
My daughter is 11- She is going into Middle school (6th grade)-They go back Aug.16th This is there list:
One, 5 subject spiral notebook with pockets (Social Studies)
One, 1 1/2” three-ring binder (Math)
Two, 1” three-ring binders (Science and Language Arts)
Four packets of subject dividers
2-24 count No. 2 pencils
Wide Rule notebook paper
Pens: (one each) red, blue, and black
One highlighter
Glue stick(s)
Color Pencils
Pencil Pouch
And of course all the backpack, clothes and all the other stuff. She also wants hers in decorated and fancy notebooks. I’ll find out how much tomorrow!
What do you think of my kids list?
Oh and the glue sticks and color pencils and pencil are for the whole class to share and they don’t get those items back.

2 large (in bold) containers of Clorox wipes
1 pkg Expo Dry Erase markers
1 box of Kleenex (boys)
1 box of gallon baggies (girls)
1 12 oz bottle of hand sanitizer
AND $25.00 for consumable supplies.
As a teacher myself, I have students turn in items like highlighters and white out (just like your colored pencils and glue sticks). Quite honestly, if I let the students keep them, they will not have them after about the 2nd week of school, and the white-out would be all over my desks, their binders, and their arms.
Your daughter may be very responsible and be able to keep them, but most children end up losing them. This is especially true when they enter middle school because they move from room to room.
The glue sticks and pencils would be consumed by the end of the year, so she wouldn’t really have those to bring back home at the end of the year anyway.
Don’t buy her fancy pencils. The pencils covered in foil to make them shiny and sparkle do not sharpen well. Plain old yellow pencils work the best!
