The waterproof case is made out of two strong plastic shells which snap shut to keep all invasive liquids away from your iPad. They also provide a level of protection if your device gets knocked around a little.
Finally, many good cases also have built-in stands, which puts your iPad in the right position to view movies and other web content. But whatever type you choose, just make sure to balance the functionality of the case with the amount and type of protection you think will best serve your needs.
